SYMPTOM:

When creating a derived element based on an MDX attribute in Strategy Developer 9.x, the following error appears when trying to browse for an MDX attribute form value:

ka02R000000kVtkQAE_0EM440000002Cl7.png

SQLEngine got an Exception from DFC: Engine Logic: HDA-MDX error due to one of the following reasons: (1) A hierarchy on the template must be related to one or more attributes in the report filter, or it cannot be replaced by one (or multiple) attributes. (2) A global attribute is missing the default lookup table or local attribute is missing its source table. (3) Local Attributes from more than one MDX SourceTable is not supported yet!

This issue only occurs when trying to select a value for a specific MDX attribute form.

CAUSE:

This is a known issue in Strategy Developer 9.x which occurs because the cube the MDX attribute belongs to has at least one required prompt and the attribute form is not in the Display and Browse form lists of the MDX attribute.

ACTION:

Add the attribute form into the Display Form List and Browse Form List of the MDX attribute.
