KB439251: In MicroStrategy Enterprise Manager 10.x, when adding the Folder attribute to the report filter, only folders containing Intelligent Cube paths are listed as available options

Heather Brewster

Senior Manager, Technical Support • MicroStrategy

In Enterprise Manager 10.x, the folder attribute shows only the paths for folders containing Intelligent Cubes when used as a report filter.

BACKGROUND
When used in an Enterprise Manager report alongside the Report attribute, the folder attribute will correctly show the folder paths for each report. The folder attribute will also work correctly when added to a report alongside "Attribute," "Document," "Fact" etc.
SYMPTOM
When adding "Folder" to a report filter in Strategy Enterprise Manager 10.x, the available objects in the element list will only be paths for folders that contain Intelligent Cubes.

In Strategy Enterprise Manager 9.x, when the folder attribute is used in a report filter, the available objects in the element list are the paths for folders that contain Reports.

CAUSE
When used in a report filter, the folder attribute pulls attribute elements from the primary lookup table. In Enterprise Manager 9.x, the primary lookup table for the folder attribute is IS_REP while in Enterprise Manager 10.x, the primary lookup table is IS_CUBE_VIEW.
ACTION
Users should note that the folder attribute is meant for use along with a specific application object (such as a report) or schema object (such as fact) so that the location can be shown on a report and not designed for filtering various object locations in a project.
If it is necessary for users to populate a specific object type's folder locations in the filter elements, that object's lookup table can be set as the primary Lookup table for the Folder attribute. Contact Strategy Technical Support for additional assistance.
