KB43962: Columns do not show up when checking base table physical view of partition mapping table in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x.

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

SYMPTOM:

When checking the base table physical view of a partition mapping table (PMT) in Strategy Developer 9.x, no columns show up as shown:

When checking the physical view from Warehouse Catalog, something similar is observed:

CAUSE:
One possible cause of this issue is that the base tables corresponding to the partition mapping table do not have the correct prefix. This can be confirmed by editing the primary database instance for the project, and going to the Advanced tab:

As in the above example, the prefix 'DW02.' is specified, the base tables whose physical view is to be shown are searched with that prefix. If those base tables do not exist, no physical view for the PMT can be shown.

ACTION:

Ensure that the prefix specified as shown above corresponds to the base tables as they exist in the warehouse database. If the base tables have the same prefix as the PMT in the warehouse database, the above prefix can be removed from the database instance.

Note: Refer to the following Strategy Knowledge Base technical note for a different issue showing the same symptoms:

KB39081: No columns show up in the physical view of a partition mapping table when trying to add it as source table for schema objects in MicroStrategy Desktop 9.x
