KB439622: How to Modify The Maximum Number of Nodes For Visualizations Using MicroStrategy Intelligence Server SDK 10.10

Rebecca Lam

Senior Customer Success Manager, Enterprise • MicroStrategy

With MicroStrategy Intelligence Server SDK 10.x, the corresponding KB article provides VB.NET code on how to modify the maximum number of nodes for visualizations, also known as the project's max data cells for windows.

With Strategy Intelligence Server SDK 10.x, the corresponding API calls can modify the maximum number of nodes for visualizations, also known as the project's max data cells for windows.  The following code was written in VB.NET:

Imports DSSCOMMasterLib

Public Class Form1
    Private Sub Button1_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click

        Dim MyDataSource As New DSSDataSource
        Dim MyProject As DSSDataSource
        Dim MyProjectList As DSSDataSourceEnumerator
        Dim MySession As IDSSSession
        Dim MySource As DSSObjectServer
        Dim oRepSource As IDSSReportSource2

        MyDataSource.Type = EnumDSSDataSourceType.DssDataSourceTypeServer
        MyDataSource.Location = "INTELLIGENCE SERVER NAME/IP"

        MyDataSource.Mode = EnumDSSConnectionMode.DssConnectionModeServerAccess
        MyDataSource.AuthMode = EnumDSSAuthModes.DssAuthStandard
        MyDataSource.login = "USERNAME"
        MyDataSource.Passwd = "PASSWORD"
        MyDataSource.Init()

        'Find the project
        MyProjectList = MyDataSource.Enumerator
        MyProject = MyProjectList.ItemByProjectName("PROJECT NAME")
        MyProject.Init()

        'Create the session
        MySession = MyProject.CreateSession
        MySource = MySession.Component(EnumDSSComponentRole.DssRoleObjectSource)
        oRepSource = MySession.Component(EnumDSSComponentRole.DssRoleReportSource)

        'Get the Configuration Object Source
        Dim mobjObjSource As IDSSSource
        mobjObjSource = MySession.Component(EnumDSSComponentRole.DssRoleConfigurationSource)
        Dim i, j, k
        Dim oConfigRoot, oServDef As IDSSFolder
        Dim myServDef As IDSSServerDef
        oConfigRoot = mobjObjSource.Configuration.Root

		'Loop through all configuration folders and look for "Server Definition"
        For i = 1 To oConfigRoot.Count
            If (oConfigRoot.Item(i).Name = "Server Definitions") Then
                oServDef = oConfigRoot.Item(i).Special

                'Look for a server definition.
				'In this example, the server definition is named "Strategy Analytics Modules Server"
                For j = 1 To oServDef.Count
                    If (oServDef.Item(j).Name = "Strategy Analytics Modules Server") Then
                        myServDef = oServDef.Item(j)

						'Look for target project
						'In this example, the project name is "Strategy Tutorial"
                        For k = 1 To myServDef.ProjectReferences.Count
                            If (myServDef.ProjectReferences.Item(k).Name = "Strategy Tutorial") Then
                                'Modify the project's maximum number of cells per windows:
								myServDef.ProjectReferences.Item(k).Setting(EnumDSSServerProjectSettingID.DssServerProjectMaxDataCellsForWindows) = XX
                                myServDef.Info.Save()
                            End If
                        Next
                    End If
                Next
                Exit For
            End If
        Next
    End Sub
End Class
