KB439648: Non aggregatable metrics have invalid subtotals when used in data blending

Community Admin

• Strategy

This article notes an issue where non aggregatable metrics such as ending fact level metrics have incorrect subtotals when data blending.

SYMPTOM
Incorrect subtotal values are seen for non aggregatable metrics when blended with other datasets. For example an end on hand inventory metric will sum for its subtotal with data blending instead of doing a last across the time hierarchy. Correct subtotals are seen with no data blending. An example is seen in the below screenshot.

As can be seen in the example the end on hand metric has a different subtotal on the data blended grid which is invalid.
CAUSE

This is a known issue in Strategy 10.3 to 10.5. It occurs as data blending interferes with reading the level dimensionality settings of metrics for subtotals.

ACTION

This has been addressed in Strategy 10.6. Upgrade to take advantage of the fix.
WORKAROUND
Avoid using data blending in these scenarios either by using multiple separate grids or through using single datasets. This will prevent the defect from taking effect.
The internal reference number for this is DE39214 and  KB439648
