KB439651: In MicroStrategy Web 10.9 and above the ability to create "Live-to-Schema" datasets is no longer available when a Dossier is created.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
SYMPTOM
When users add data in a Dossier using the “Existing Objects” option, the ability to connect live to get the data is no longer available, and the dataset that is created will get imported as an “In-memory” dataset.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. In Strategy Web 10.9 and above, select the option to Create a dossier.
2. In the Datasets panel, under “Add data,” select the “Existing objects” option.
3. Choose the attributes and metrics you need and select “Add.”

1. Notice the dataset gets imported as an “In memory” dataset.

 
This behavior is different from the previous releases, in which the dataset would get imported as a “Live” dataset:
 

CAUSE
Starting in Strategy Web 10.9, it was decided to consolidate the ability to create datasets with Project Attributes and Metrics, from within the VI interface, via the Add Data > Existing Objects interface.
ACTION
Starting in Strategy 11.0, users can add Existing Objects to their dossier and have the option to select "Live Connect" or "In-Memory" as the data access mode.  Upgrade to the latest version of Strategy to take advantage of this functionality.
