Unable to Open .mstr File from a Network Folder using Workstation 10.10 on Mac

Within MicroStrategy Workstation 10.10 on Mac, some of our users are not able to open the .mstr file which is residing in the network drive location. However, the users are able to open the same file from that remote location using MicroStrategy Desktop. This article will review how the error is occurring and next steps. Get going!

Troubleshooting
Unable to Open .mstr File from a Network Folder using Workstation 10.10 on Mac
Within Strategy Workstation 10.10 on Mac, some of our users are not able to open the .mstr file which is residing in the network drive location. However, the users are able to open the same file from that remote location using Strategy Desktop. This article will review how the error is occurring and next steps. Get going!
Steps to reproduce

  1. Create or locate a .mstr file in any shared folder which can be accessible from the Mac machine.
  2. Navigate to that network location with a Mac that has Workstation 10.10.
  3. Right-click the .mstr file.
  4. Select the option to select "Open with..." and Select workstation.
  5.  Notice that there is no response and Workstation does not launch.

Why is this happening?
This is a known defect in Strategy Workstation 10.10 on Mac.
In Workstation windows, users will be able to open it successfully.
