KB440831: Duplicate rows are displayed for a Dossier against a Data Import Cube when the fact table used contains duplicated rows

Chris Robinson

Principal Product Specialist • Strategy

This technical article explains a defect where users can see duplicate rows for a Dossier against a Data Import Cube when the fact table used contains duplicate rows.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

  • The issue only occurs when joining to a fact table that contains duplicate rows.
  • Previously, there was no workflow for a distinct Tuple when performing a join to the fact table. As a result, duplicate rows could be seen in Dossiers depending on the data in the fact table being used.

  1. Create a Data Import Cube with Order Date, Promotion Id, Order Id, Customer id, Catalog, Item, and Discount.
  2. Create a Dossier using the cube as shown below:

Notice that 'Item' has four rows for 'Catalog' element 1.
This is correct based on the data in the Fact Table. However, it seems unexpected to users.

This issue has been fixed in Strategy 10.11.
To pick up the fix, please upgrade to Strategy 10.11 or above.

If you are upgrading to Strategy 10.9 / 10.10 / 10.11:
Enable the Feature Flag "Defect fixes that may impact Data, SQL, MDX, CSI" within the Web Preferences -> Project Defaults.
For more details on enabling Feature Flags, please refer this page .
Starting Strategy 11.0, this Feature Flag has been removed and replaced with a project level setting called "Data Engine Version".
If you are upgrading to Strategy 11.0 or above:
To pick up the fix, enable project level setting "Data Engine Version" to 11.
This property can only be enabled through Workstation. For more details on enabling the setting, refer to Change Data Engine Version.
