KB441363: How to install MicroStrategy Tutorial on Linux

Community Admin

• Strategy

This article provides step by step instruction on how to install MicroStrategy Tutorial on a Linux Environment.
  1. Strategy Tutorial is on a Microsoft Access database, you must migrate this data to a Linux supported database (such as SQL Server, Oracle, etc.) as there is no ODBC driver for Microsoft Access on Linux.
    • You will need to migrate the MS Access warehouse located here: \Program Files (x86)\Strategy\Tutorial Reporting\TUTORIAL_DATA_7200
  2. Create a DSN from your Linux hosted Intelligence Server to your newly created Linux supported database using Strategy Connectivity Wizard
  3. Create a 3-tier project source connecting to your Linux hosted Intelligence Server using Strategy Developer (Keep in mind that you will need to do this through a Windows machine as Developer is not supported in Linux.)
  4. Duplicate the Strategy Tutorial Project to your new project source to migrate the metadata to your Linux environmnet.
  5. After duplicating the project, you will then need to edit the Database Connection (DBC) to point to your newly created warehouse from step 1.
    • After changing the DBC information, an Intelligence Server restart is required for these changes to take effect.
  6. You should now be able to use Strategy Tutorial on your Linux hosted environment.
