KB441418: Supplemental reference for installing Hotfix on MicroStrategy version 10.x

Hotfix Release Note & Readme for Hotfix provides installation instructions. This knowledge article includes supplemental information on how to install Hotfix and subsequent steps.
Note: For who intends to install Strategy 10.4 Hotfix 8, a new license key will be required. Check [Licensing Model for MicroStrategy 10.4.8] for more details.
 

1. Stop any of the Strategy Servers running on the target machine.
2. Close any Strategy Products running on the target machine

While the product suite is certified to be compatible among Hotfix releases, it is recommended to keep the hotfix versions same across the environment.
 

1. Depending on the target operating system, run the installation routine below as a root user

setup.exe for Windows
setupHF.sh for AIX
setupHF.sh for Solaris
setupHF.sh for Linux
 

1. Redeploy Strategy.war file for J2EE Web

Note 1:
Backup web/mobile folder before redeploying war file for any customization.
Redeploy the Strategy.war file again via their supported Application Server.  This is due to the fact that the install routine of the hotfix only provides a new and updated Strategy.war file within the Strategy Web installation directory/Web JSP, and not the extracted files or .war files located in the application server directories. See KB31054 for more information.
Note 2:
After redeploying war, you need to configure the setting of Web Administrator page because of the fact that replacing war makes those settings back to default values.
 

1. Update Enterprise Manager Project (For 10.4 Hotfix 3 or above).

Several enhancements and fixes have been implemented to ensure Enterprise Manager is returning accurate metric calculations and object definitions. To take full advantage of your upgraded version of Enterprise Manager, be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Updating the Enterprise Manager Project section of the Strategy Upgrade Guide.
