SYMPTOM
When attempted to alter a physical address of a file location with Command Manager, following error message appears.
ALTER FILESUBSCRIPTION GUID xxx IN PROJECT "Strategy Tutorial" PHYSICALADDRESS "C:\Test" DEVICE "User selected location";
Please provide a valid email address.
Task(s) execution completed with errors.
After the email address is used instead of the path to the file, in this example, "C:\Test," then, syntax error cannot be reproduced anymore. But subscription remained outdated.
CAUSE
This is a limitation of Strategy Command Manager. In order to update physical address for an existing file subscription, a new address needs to be defined first, then, the newly created address name should be used in the command.
ACTION
In this example, a user called "bkelt" change the file location to "C:\ABC."
1. Create a new address for the user, "bkelt."
ADD ADDRESS "New Address" PHYSICALADDRESS "C:\ABC" DELIVERYTYPE FILE DEVICE "User selected location" TO USER "bkelt";
2. Then, specify the new address name as "ADDRESS" in the following command:
ALTER FILESUBSCRIPTION GUID xxx OWNER "bkelt" ADDRESS "New Address" IN PROJECT "Strategy Tutorial";
