This knowledge base article describes an error when trying to update schema in a newly duplicated project after applying 10.4 Hotfix 8, ‘value does not fall within the expected range’. This has been classified as a defect by MicroStrategy.

SYMPTOM
After applying Strategy 10.4 Hotfix 8, the below error message occurs in a newly duplicated project when updating schema:

Error code:

value does not fall within the expected range

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1) Apply Strategy 10.4 Hotfix 8 to two different Strategy 10.4 environments.
2) Duplicate the Human Resources Analysis Module project from environment one into environment two
3) Log in to the newly duplicated project and update the schema, the ‘value does not fall within the expected range’ error appears.
CAUSE
This is a known issue with Project Duplication in Strategy 10.4 Hotfix 8.
 
ACTION
A global patch is available to be applied to Strategy 10.4 Hotfix 8 and attached in this article.  Follow the bundled readme file to apply this patch. After replacing this file on your machine, you need to duplicate your project once again. The previously duplicated version will not work.
