KB442021: Bucketing Feature is not working as expected in MicroStrategy 10.11 and above

Jose Procs

Manager, Cloud Support • MicroStrategy

This article explains how to fix an issue with Bucketing in MicroStrategy 10.11 and above.

Symptom

Strategy 10.11 includes a new feature called Bucketing, which groups subscriptions to multiple users, that have the same content, and allows them to execute only once.
Users might see that this behavior is not happening when testing this new feature.

Cause

The bucketing feature is controlled by a flag in the metadata, and there might be scenarios while, even though the flag is present, it is not enabled.

Action

Using Strategy Command Manager, run the following command:

LIST ALL FEATURE FLAGS;

This will bring back a list of all features and if they are enabled or disabled.
Look for "Bucketing" and check the status.
If the Feature flag status is Off, run the following command:
ALTER FEATURE FLAG "Bucketing" ON;
This will enable the Bucketing feature.
Restart the Intelligence Server to apply the changes.
