SYMPTOM
"String in context 'Object Description' of Hierarchy object '<object_name>' with id '<object_id>' cannot exceed the maximum length of 250 characters" error when trying to import a SAP MDX cube via MDX Catalog in Strategy Developer 9.4.1 and 10.x, as shown below:


String in context 'Object Description' of Hierarchy object '<object_name>' with id '<object_id>' cannot exceed the maximum length of 250 characters.

CAUSE
One possible cause of the issue is that the length of corresponding Hierarchy/CubeDimention description is longer than 250 characters on SAP side, as shown below:

ACTION
Change the Hierarchy/CubeDimention description length to a shorter one on SAP side.
