KB44399: How to Hide Salesforce in Data Import Wizard using the MicroStrategy Web SDK 9.3.1

The example provided in this document is provided “as-is” to the user and assumes that the user:

• Can program, compile (e.g. javac, jikes, etc.), and execute Java programs
• Can configure environment variables (e.g. JAR files, property files, etc.)
• Have all the necessary tools to create Java applications (JDK, IDE, etc.)
• Has access to the Strategy SDK documentation.
• Has read the customization warning at the bottom of this document

PREREQUISITES:
 
For the sample to work, the Strategy Web JAR files must be accessible by the Java Runtime
Environment. The Strategy Web JAR files can be found under:

• Strategy Web Universal (JSP): {web_root}/WEB-INF/lib directory.
• Strategy Web (.NET): Program Files\Common Files\Strategy directory.

Note:
 
More elaborate programs will require additional library files and are out of the scope of this document.
 
By default the Strategy Web 9.3.1 Data Import Wizard shows the following list of data sources that a user can select when importing data:
 

 
There may be times when the end user should be limited in what options they can select as a data source. For example, using the Strategy SDK, it is possible to hide the ‘Salesforce’ data source option so users cannot select it. 
 
After Customization:

 
Perform the following steps to achieve this customization:

1. In the Web Customization Editor (WCE), expand Pages section.
2. Scroll down to the ‘importEntry (Import wizard entry page)’ and expand.
3. Expand CSS > Customizations and right-click on importEntryPage.css and select ‘New Selector’ as shown here:

• In the ‘New CSS Element’ dialog type in '.mstrmojo-di-bullet.SF' and make sure ‘This Page’ is selected. Click OK.

• Double-click to open this new property, click ‘Add’ and enter in ‘display’. Click OK. Set the value to none as shown below. Click OK.

 
Note: this customization is not possible in Strategy Web 9.3.0 and earlier because the Data Import Wizard is rendered in Adobe Flash and is not customizable.
 
Google Chrome or Firefox can be used to determine which selector to specify. The process can be used to determine what the other CSS selector names should be used.  For example, to find out what selector is used for the Freeform option ,use the Chrome Developer Tools:
