KB44437: What does the metric levels log in MicroStrategy Diagnostics and Performance Logging record in MicroStrategy 9.x and 10.x?

Article outlines what the metric levels diagnostic log captures. This is relevant when establishing the Cube Advisor.

When trying to set up Cube Advisor, a user may want to know the expected behavior of the metric levels log, and what it records. The metric levels log can be enabled by opening the Strategy Diagnostics and Performance Logging tool, as shown below:

The metric levels log records a line for each report's metrics, but only generates a new line of details when reports are run that both are not intelligent cube reports and have dynamic sourcing enabled. Intelligent cube reports and regular reports without dynamic sourcing will not cause anything to be logged. If a report is run and then the exact same non-intelligent cube report is run again without making any changes, no new information will be logged for that report (if a cache is used). Also, the size of the file that is specified as the Max File Size (see screenshot above) when creating the log file will limit the number of lines generated.
