KB44623: In a report with dynamic aggregation, incorrect percentages are calculated for consolidations that use division

Community Admin

• Strategy

SYMPTOM:

When a consolidation element is composed of dividing two consolidation elements and not all objects in the report object window are in the grid, the result returned appears to be incorrect.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Create a consolidation of elements 2010:year=2010, 2011:year=2011, 2010/2011:(year=2010/year=2011), compoundCE=2010/2011
  • Place on report with metric 'Cost'
  • Run report, see that both compoundCE and 2010/2011 calculate correctly, according to the excel calculation

  • Add other attributes into the report objects window only (not template)--both division consolidation elements are now incorrect. Compare against the excel division.

CAUSE:

When a user has additional attributes in the report objects window, the aggregation causes the consolidation to add up the percentages for the results for each attribute instead of dividing the overall numbers. The consolidation calculates at the report dataset level, aggregates that, and then does the consolidation

WORKAROUND:

Remove the attributes that are not on the grid from the report objects window, or try using a derived element to do the division calculation.
