KB44633: Metric values are not sorted accordingly when two parent attributes of a child attribute and the child attribute are placed together on report, and sort hierarchically by total is enabled in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x.

Metric values are not sorted accordingly when two parent attributes of a child attribute and the child attribute are placed together on report, and sort hierarchically by total is enabled in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x.

SYMPTOM:

In Strategy 9.x, subtotals are sorted correctly but metric values are not properly sorted in the situation where three attributes are placed on report, two attributes are parents of the third, the Total subtotal is enabled and sort hierarchically by Total is selected.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a report in Tutorial with Region, Call Center, Distribution Center, and Cost
  2. Enable the Total subtotal--set across level, select "Call Center"
  3. Set advanced subtotaling to do Cost descending, and check the "Sort metrics hierarchically using: Total"
  4. Run report, see that for the first region, Northeast, the cost for Boston and New York are not ordered descending, and same for Southeast.
