SYMPTOMS:
When following KB30581 "How to subscribe other users to reports with Strategy Distribution Services" and trying to enable a group to subscribe the users of the Everyone group, it does not work. The list of available users to be subscribed is empty.
EXPLANATION:
The new accounts don't inherit ACL permissions from the Everyone group ACL setting, but it works for a new group.
WORKAROUND:
Create two groups: 'Subscribers' and 'Recipients'. Users may allow users in 'Subscribers' group to create subscriptions for users in group 'Recipients'
To do this, you would need to:
1. Create group 'Subscribers', give sufficient privileges to it so that it's children can create subscriptions to others. Add a user S1 to this group.
2. Create group 'Recipients', edit this group's properties, go to its Security tab, add 'Subscribers' to have View permission for both Object and Children. Create new users or add existing users to Recipients group. Now user of group Subscribers, like S1, can create subscriptions for users in the Recipients group.
This solution will allow all accounts in Subscriber group to create subscriptions for users in Recipients group.
Note, only at the time a user account is added to a group, the user accounts’ ACL will be refreshed to inherit the group’s ACL. So users need to edit the Recipients group's ACL first, then add accounts to it. And users need to make sure users in Recipients group will be able to accept subscriptions, which means the users should have privilege to use Deliveries and should have email or file addresses .
