KB44708: Upon modification of attributes contained in an Intelligent Cube the Intelligent Cube cache is not invalidated in MicroStrategy 10

This article notes an issue where Intelligent Cube caches do not become invalidated

SYMPTOM:
Upon modification of attributes contained in an Intelligent Cube the Intelligent Cube cache is not invalidated in Strategy 10.
For example if an Intelligent Cube in Tutorial containing the brand attribute had a report built off of it. Then the brand attribute was modified to point to the item description column. The cube report would look like below.

While the report that goes straight to the database shows the below data.

CAUSE:
This is a known behavior in Strategy 10. Intelligent Cubes like database tables are assumed to be rigid in structure and are not expected to have changes like this in a production environment. For that reason it is assumed that any cube will be republished by hand in this scenario if it arises. There is an enhancement request to have an option to automatically invalidate the cache file.

ACTION:
Currently this issue is still being reviewed for feasibility by our Technology team and it is not scoped for any upcoming scheduled Strategy release.

WORKAROUND:
Republish necessary cubes manually after editing attributes contained in the cubes.
