KB44768: "Query: <>, line 9, column 96: [XPST0003] syntax error, unexpected "'QName'", expecting "')'"" error message appears when capturing REST-JSON response in MicroStrategy XQuery Editor and Generator 9.3.x.

"Query: <>, line 9, column 96: [XPST0003] syntax error, unexpected "'QName'", expecting "')'"" error message appears when capturing REST-JSON response in MicroStrategy XQuery Editor and Generator 9.3.x.

SYMPTOM:
When using a REST-JSON source type and Post - other HTTP method in Strategy XQuery Editor and Generator (XEG) 9.3.x, a user encounters a  "Query: <>, line 9, column 96: syntax error, unexpected "'QName'", expecting "')"" error message when selecting 'Capture Response' in the New Simple XQuery window's Response Definition tab.

Testing the connection using the same URL and HTTP method parameters using a different client (such as Advanced Rest Client) may have shown that the Web Service does work. However, the XQuery generated by XEG causes the syntax error above.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy 9.3.x.

ACTION:
Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.
