KB44876: The filter behavior is not correct when "Auto-apply changes" is unchecked for Visual Insight in MicroStrategy 9.4.1.

The filter behavior is not correct when "Auto-apply changes" is unchecked for Visual Insight in MicroStrategy 9.4.1.

SYMPTOM:
The filter behavior is not correct  when "Auto-apply changes" is unchecked for Visual Insight in Strategy 9.4.1.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Create a VI on "Category sales report"(Located in Shared reports/Business roles/Category Managers).
  2. Drag "Subcategory" to the filter panel.
  3. Uncheck "Auto-apply changes" for the filter panel.
  4. Uncheck "All" for Subcategory to make all items unchecked.
  5. Type a key word, e.g. books. The item is automatically checked.
  6. Click on "Apply". Only the options corresponding to the key word should be applied. But actually all items are checked and applied to the filter.

CAUSE:
Since the option "Auto-apply changes" is not enabled, the step to uncheck "All" doesn't really uncheck everything, although all check marks have been cleared visually. This is a known issue in Strategy 9.4.1.

ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy Visual Insight 9.4.1 HF1. Upgrade to this version to take advantage of the fix.

WORKAROUND:
When "All" is unchecked to make everything unchecked, click on "Apply" to take effect. Keep on the key word search. The relevant options will not be checked automatically. Go on by manually checking the items and clicking on "Apply" again. Then only the checked options will be applied to the filter.
