KB448885: What are the user sessions governing parameters at the project level in MicroStrategy?

Community Admin

• Strategy

Description

Strategy allows users to set governing limits on user sessions at the Intelligence Server and project levels. This article explains the specific settings available at the project level. For more information about governing settings available for user sessions at the server level, refer to the following Strategy knowledge-base article

User Sessions at the Project Level

Governing rules set at the project level are overridden by their server-level counterparts. In a clustered system, these settings limit the number of concurrent user sessions per project on every node of the cluster.
Governing rules for user sessions on the project level are found in Strategy Developer/Desktop under Project Configuration > Governing Rules > Default > User Sessions.
Refer to the image below for the specific location at the Project Level.

User Sessions per Project

Limits the number of user sessions (connections) that are allowed in the project. When the limit is reached, new users cannot log in, except for the administrator, who may wish to disconnect current users or increase the governing setting. Values of 0 and -1 indicate no limit. By default, this is set to 500.

Concurrent, Interactive Project Sessions per User

Limits the number of concurrent interactive project sessions for a given user account. When the limit is reached, users cannot access new project sessions. By default, this is set to 20.
