KB44994: Is it possible to send SMS notifications using MicroStrategy Distribution Services?

Community Admin

• Strategy

The document outlines possibilities for sending SMS notifications to mobile devices using MicroStrategy Distribution Services

Strategy Distribution Services does not provide any out-of-the-box integration with SMS messaging.
However, many major mobile device carriers offer email-to-text services that could be used to convert a normal email notification to an SMS notification.
For many of these services, an email delivered to “<phone number>@<corresponding carrier domain>” will be converted to a text message and forwarded to the specified phone number.  As an example, for a mobile device on the AT&T network the email format is <phone number>@mms.att.net as shown below:

A non-Strategy article located at http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/email-to-sms/ contains a list of SMS gateways for different carriers as quick reference both for US and international mobile numbers.  Consult the desired mobile carrier for specific instructions if necessary.
