In the following example, the Intelligence Server version will be removed from the About page in Strategy Web 9.3.1.
 
Using the Web Customization Editor to create a plug-in
 
Strategy SDK provides a Web Customization Editor that can be used to create a customization plug-in. The following steps show how to create the plug-in and deploy.

1. Launch the Web Customization Editor.
2. Create a new plug-in and give it a meaningful name. For example: RemovingServerNameAboutPage. (For step by step instructions on creating a new plug-in, please navigate to Home > Web SDK > Customizing Strategy Web > Web Customization Editor > Features and Customizable)
3. Click in Strategy Web Configuration inside the Application Settings view to expand the hierarchical tree. The expanded list comprises the different settings that can be modified to perform customizations.
4. Navigate to Strategy Web Configuration > Pages
5. Double click on the about(About) page to open the page editor
6. On the Template Properties tab, in the Page Templates section, right click on Content - /jsp/AboutInfo_Content.jsp and select Edit Current File
7. The Edit Page Section prompt will appear stating "Editing this file will create a copy in your plug-in folder and this copied file will be opened for editing.  Do you want to continue?" Click Yes
8. The AboutInfo_Content.jsp page will open in Eclipse
9. Change the following line of code from:
    
   <%@include file='/jsp/About_Content.jsp' %>
    
   to the following:
    
   <%@include file='/plugins/RemovingServerNameAboutPage/jsp/About_Content.jsp' %>
    
   
10. Save your changes.
11. Minimize Eclipse.  Navigate to the following file in the Strategy Web directory.
12. Make a copy of About_Content.jsp from ..\Strategy\jsp and paste it to the location specified in step #9.  In this particular example, it is ../plugins/RemovingServerNameAboutPage/jsp/
13. Open the About_Content.jsp file from the ../plugins/RemovingServerNameAboutPage/jsp/ location and edit the file using a file editor.
14. Remove the following lines from the About_Content.jsp file:
     
    <%--
    If there is a session and the server versio can be accessed,
    display the Intelligence Server version number.
    --%>
    <web:ifConnectionValue property="serverVersion">
     <web:then>
         <SPAN><web:descriptor key="mstrWeb.795" desc="Server version:" /></SPAN> <web:connectionValue property="serverVersion"/><BR /><BR/>
     </web:then>
    </web:ifConnectionValue>
     
    
15. Save your changes.
    
16. Restart the Web Server
    

For the asp version, the following modifications to the above steps are as follows:

• Modification for step 6 -
  On the Template Properties tab, in the Page Templates section, right click on Content - /jsp/AboutInfo_Content.ascx and select

• Modification for step 8 -
  The AboutInfo_Content.ascx page will open in Eclipse
   
  
• Modification for step 9 -
  Change the following line of code from:

• Modification to step 12 -
  Make a copy of About_Content.ascx and About_Content.ascx.vb from ..\Strategy\asp and paste it to the location specified in step #9.  In this particular example, it is ../plugins/RemovingServerNameAboutPage/asp/
   
  
• Modification to step 13 -
  Open the About_Content.ascx file from the ../plugins/RemovingServerNameAboutPage/asp/ location and edit the file using a file editor.
   
  
• Modification to step 14 -
  Remove the following lines from the About_Content.ascx file:
   
  <%--
   
  If there is a session and the server versio can be accessed,
  display the Intelligence Server version number.
  --%>
  <web:ifConnectionValue property="serverVersion">
   <web:then>

PREREQUISITES:
 
For the sample to work, the Strategy Web JAR files must be accessible by the Java Runtime
Environment. The Strategy Web JAR files can be found under:

• Strategy Web Universal (JSP): {web_root}/WEB-INF/lib directory.
• Strategy Web (.NET): Program Files\Common Files\Strategy directory.

Note:
 
More elaborate programs will require additional library files and are out of the scope of this document.
