KB45164: The column alias can not be edited in the Attribute Editor when the Attribute was created using Freeform SQL in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x.

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

If an attribute was created in the Freeform SQL report Editor, the column alias cannot be edited

SYMPTOM:
A user opens the Attribute editor and, while editing an Attribute Form that was created in the Freeform SQL Report Editor, notices that the column alias is grayed out and does not allow any editing to be done:

CAUSE:
Editing the column alias for an attribute form created in the Freeform SQL report editor is not currently supported, although an Enhancement Request currently exists for this functionality. The naming convention for a column created in the Freeform SQL report editor is AttributeName (AttributeFormType). For example: Airport (DESC).

WORKAROUND:
Create a new Attribute Form in either the Attribute Editor, where the column alias can be edited, or in Freeform SQL report editor where the Attribute name matches the desired column name.
