KB45191: The drill down functionality is not available on iPad against MicroStrategy Mobile 9.4.x

SYMPTOM:
While a report grid can be drilled down on the attributes in Web, the same report doesn't show the Drill option on iPad against Strategy Mobile 9.4.x.
 

 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE

• Create a report, for instance, with one attribute and one metric.
• Enable "Drill down only" for the report.
• Run the report in Web and right-click the attribute for drill. The lower level attributes are listed under Drill.
   
  

• Run the same report on iPad. The drill functionality is not available for the attributes.

CAUSE:
There is no "drill within" path for the attributes.
When running a report on iPad, based on the current design of Strategy Mobile app, the "drill down" functionality for the report automatically converts to "drill within". Thus, if there is no "drill within" path for the selected attribute, users will not be able to do drilling.
 
ACTION:
Make sure there is available "drill within" path for the attribute. In other words, the lower level attribute(s) should meet the following two conditions:

• The attribute is available in the Drill Down drill path.
• The attribute should be available in the Report Objects of the report.

Another way to enable drilling on iPad is to change the drill option from "Drill down only" to "Drill anywhere". The options can be found at "Report Editor -> Data -> Report Data Options -> General -> Drilling".
