KB45264: “A document with the name ‘Main.aspx’is already open” error message appears when trying to open a report exported to Microsoft Excel directly in the web browser.

When exporting a MicroStrategy Report or a Reporting Services Document to Microsoft Excel and selecting the option to directly open the file, users may notice that a different name is assigned to the file than expected: “Main.aspx”

SYMPTOM:
When exporting a Strategy Report or a Reporting Services Document to Microsoft Excel and selecting the option to directly open the file, users may notice that a different name is assigned to the file than expected: “Main.aspx”, as shown in the image below:

ka04W00000148koQAA_0EM4400000026S8.jpeg

When users try to export a second document while the first one is still open the following error message will appear:

ka04W00000148koQAA_0EM4400000026S5.jpeg

A document with the name ‘Main.aspx’is already open. You cannot open two documents with the same name, even if the documents are in different folders. To open the second document, either close the document that’s currently open, or rename one of the documents.

CAUSE:
By default, the file name should follow the pattern: 20131031xxxx.exp.aspx if it is directly opened in the browser. The beggining of the string represents the time the file was requested from the web server. It prevents name conflicts when exporting multiple reports or documents. The file name will change to Main.aspx when the option to store Strategy Intelligence Server session's information in temporary cookies is enabled.

ACTION:
In order to change this behavior make sure the following setting is disabled:
"WebServer Admin page > security > Cookies Security level > Store Strategy Intelligence Server session's information in temporary cookies instead of on the Web server"
After this option is disabled the exported file name will display as 20131031xxxx.exp.aspx, and no further name conflicts should occur.

Another workaround is described in TN 19099. The configuration in exportFormats.xml will force downloading the file instead of opening it in the browser.
KB19099 (KB5600-81X-3283): When exporting a report to Microsoft Excel, the report name is not generated correctly in Strategy Web 9.0.x
