KB45281: "MISSING Web Server feature: Application Development\ASP.Net" error message appears when installing MicroStrategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1 and 10.x even though ASP.NET 4.5 is already selected.

This Knowledge Base article addresses an error encountered with ASP.NET when installing MicroStrategy 9.4.1 or 10.x on Microsoft Windows.

SYMPTOM:
When installing Strategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1 in Microsoft Windows, the following error is encountered:


"MISSING Web Server Feature: Application Development\ASP.NET for some of the components that will be installed."

This error is encountered even though "ASP.NET 4.5" is enabled as a server role in the Microsoft Add Roles and Features Wizard as shown below.

CAUSE:
In the Microsoft Add Roles and Features Wizard, both "ASP.NET 4.5" and "ASP.NET 3.5" need to be selected to be able to move forward with the installation. 
 
ACTION:
In the Microsoft Add Roles and Features Wizard, select "ASP.NET 3.5" and "ASP.NET 4.5".
