Starting with MicroStrategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1, when there are derived elements defined on the same attribute in both the dataset and view filter the document will run without error.

Starting with Strategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1, when there are derived elements defined on the same attribute in both the dataset and view filter the document will run without error. An example of this behavior is shown below:

  • Create a report with Category and Cost:
  • Create a document based on the report from step 1, and create a view filter Category in list{Books, Movies, Music} in the grid:

  • Create a derived element, "Books+Electronics" for Category.

  • Running this document in 9.3.1 will result in the following error message:

Starting with Strategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1 the document will run successfully. The behavior in this release is such that the view filter is applied before the results of the derived element are calculated so in the example below "Books+Electronics" only contains the data of Books since Electronics has been filtered out.

NOTE: If the derived element is defined in the dataset report first, it is not able to be used to create a view filter in the document grid on the same attribute.
