Is Distribution Services capable of delivering report content in the body of an email and as a PDF attachment in the same email in MicroStrategy 10.x?

QUESTION:

Is Distribution Services capable of delivering report content in the body of an email and as a PDF attachment in the same email in Strategy 10.x?

ANSWER:

Currently, it is not possible in Strategy Web to create an email subscription (choosing the delivery format to be HTML), to include report/document content in the email body, and also as a PDF attachment in the same email. The user can only choose one delivery format as shown below.

CAUSE:

This is working as designed. Currently, when creating email subscriptions, it is not possible to include the HTML version of the document/report in the email body and simultaneously have a PDF attachment of the document/report results in the same email. An enhancement Request has been logged for this capability.

ACTION:

Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.

WORKAROUND:

Create two email subscriptions for every report/document to which the user is subscribing:

  1. The first subscription should be configured to deliver results in body of the email and the delivery format of the subscription should be HTML.
  2. The second subscription should be configured to deliver results in body of the email and the delivery format of the subscription should be PDF.
