This article explains how to configure grids in documents to overflow when exporting to Excel or PDF while keeping the scrolling functions when viewing in MicroStrategy Web.

Strategy Web 9.4.110.x users might want to configure grids in documents to overflow when exporting to Excel or PDF while keeping the scrolling functions when viewing in Strategy Web.

CONFIGURE OVERFLOW FOR EXPORT:
Several components of the Strategy Web 9.4.1-10.x need to be configured in order for this export to overflow correctly, identify the following objects in the Document:

  • Grid that will overflow.
  • Panel Stack that contains the grid and any parent panel stacks.
  • If using the Strategy Web 9.4.1-10.x Dashboard template, identify the Body in the Document Structure pane.

To configure the grid:

  1. Disable the Title Bar in the Properties and Formatting>General menu for the grid.
  2. Under Properties and Formatting>Layout for the grid, select "Fit to grid contents" in the dropbox for "Grid Overflow (PDF & Excel)".
  3. Apply both changes. Note: that the Overflow option will not show until the Title Bar change has been applied.

To configure the Panel Stack that contains the grid (Note: if this setting is not applied, the grid will overflow but the panel stack will remain in the background):

  1. Under Properties and Formatting>Advanced uncheck the box "Clip contents of Panel Stack when exporting".
  2. Apply changes. Note: If this panel stack is contained in another panel stack the same setting has to be enabled for the parent panel stack.

To configure the Body if using the Dashboard template:

  • Right click the Body in the Document Structure and select Properties and Formatting as shown below:
