“Trunc(Number)” is a Strategy function to return the integer component of a given number, removing the fractional part. With this function, users can define a Metric that truncates the number at the desired level of precision.
This can be accomplished with the following definition where N = the number of decimal places to retain:
(Trunc(METRIC * 10N))/ (10N)
For example, if there is a number 1234.5678, and a user wants to keep two decimal places like 1234.56, the definition will be:
(Trunc(METRIC * 100))/ (100)
And this is calculated as below:
(Trunc(1234.5678 * 100))/100
= Trunc(123456.78)/100
= 123456/100
= 1234.56
