KB46214: Warehouse Catalog does not use custom read SQL for Vertica warehouses in MicroStrategy 9.x

SYMPTOM
Custom read SQL in the warehouse catalog will not be used for Vertica data warehouses in Strategy 9.x. 
Rather than using the custom SQL, Strategy will display all of the tables in the data warehouse as available. 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Open Warehouse Catalog and  select a Database Instance that is pointed to a Vertica Database.
2. Open the read settings to display the read SQL.  The default SQL will bring back all views and tables from the warehouse.

   select distinct table_schema NAME_SPACE, table_name TAB_NAME
   from v_catalog.tables where table_schema ='EDW'
   union
   select distinct table_schema NAME_SPACE, table_name TAB_NAME
   from v_catalog.views  where table_schema ='EDW'

   
   
   
   
3. Read the Warehouse catalog.  All tables and views will show up as available tables.
   
4. Change the table read SQL to the following to only bring back tables from the warehouse.
   
   Sql
   
   

   
   select distinct table_schema NAME_SPACE, table_name TAB_NAME
   
   from v_catalog.tables where table_schema ='EDW'

   
   
   
   
5.  Read the Warehouse catalog. All tables and views will again show up as available tables.
   

CAUSE
This is a known issue in Strategy 9.x while using a Vertica data warehouse.
ACTION
The issue doesn't exist for Strategy 10.4 or above. 
Please ensure the correct Database Connection Type in Database instance is specified.
