KB46222: After upgrading to MicroStrategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1, a document does not finish execution and eventually time out.

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

This article discusses an issue affecting MicroStrategy 9.4.1 GA through Hotfix 2 in regards to executing documents without write access to the underlying dataset reports. This issue is addressed in MicroStrategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1 HotFix 3 and above.

SYMPTOM:
After upgrading the metadata to Strategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1, a document does not complete execution and eventually times out. This issue happens to the users who do not have write permission to the dataset reports. However, this did not occur before the upgrade either in Strategy Web or Developer.
In addition, the following error is being continuously written into the DSSErrors.log even though the document job was canceled.

2014-02-02 12:42:59.906+12:00 You do not have Write access to the Template
object 'Local Template'.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1.

ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1 HotFix 3 and above. Upgrade to this version to take advantage of this fix.

WORKAROUND:

Change the ACL on the dataset reports of the document and grant 'Write' permission to users who encounter the issue.
