KB46524: What are the subscription governing parameters at the project level in MicroStrategy 9.4.x - 10.x?

Strategy 9.x - 10.x allows users to set governing limits on jobs and user sessions at the Intelligence Server and project levels. This technical note explains the subscription limits which are only available at the project level. Governing rules at the project level are located in Strategy Developer under Project Configuration > Governing Rules > Default > Subscriptions as shown below.
Note: In Strategy version 10.0 and above, an additional setting is available for FTP subscriptions as well.

 
The Subscriptions limits allow users to improve system performance by limiting subscriptions per user by type. By default each of these limits are set to "-1" which indicates no limit. Note that changing the following governing limits will require an Intelligence Server restart to take effect.

• History List: Limits the number of execution requests that a user can subscribe to be delivered to the History List folder.
• Cache Update: Limits the number of cache updates that a user can subscribe to at a time.
• Email: Limits the number of email subscriptions a user can subscribe to at a time.
• File: Limits the number of email subscriptions a user can subscribe to at a time.
• FTP: Limits the number of FTP subscriptions a user can subscribe to at a time.
• Print: Limits the number of reports or documents a user can subscribe to printer at a time.
• Mobile: Limits the number of reports or documents a user can can subscribe to a mobile device at a time.
• Personal View: Limits the number of personal views that can be created by sharing a URL. 

Users who create subscriptions that violate these project-level limits will encounter the following errors in Strategy Developer and Web.
