This knowledge base article documents a know behavior in MicroStrategy Command Manager 9.4.x-10.x, when trying to update dashboard caches through a subscription, caches are not updated

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Command Manager 9.4.x-10.x, When using CREATE CACHEUPDATESUBSCRIPTION in Command Manager, the caches are not updated and the users see in the schedule log the error message :

"Reset schedule entry for next time"

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
   1) Create a dashboard in Strategy
   2) Create a subscription to update the caches of the dashboard via Command Manager using a syntax similar to:

CREATE CACHEUPDATESUBSCRIPTION "Cache Update" SCHEDULE "Test" USER "user@domain.com" CONTENT "Analysis" IN FOLDER "\public objects\reports" IN PROJECT "Strategy Tutorial" DELIVERYFORMAT FLASH SENDNOTIFICATION FALSE;

   3) Please trigger the subscription created in step 2. The cache is not updated.

CAUSE:
If users want to be able to update the caches, the caches need to be created previously.
Users should run the dashboard before running the command in Command Manager and verify that the caches are correctly created.

ACTION:
Adding CREATEUPDATECACHE TRUE to the command will create the cache and running the subscription won't generate an error.
