SUMMARY
This issue has been classified as an enhancement request by Strategy. The impact is limited to Strategy Web 9.x Visual Insight Analysis. There is a workaround available and outlined in this Technical Note. A solution/code fix for this issue is currently not available, but is being reviewed for a future Strategy release.
SYMPTOM
In Strategy 9.x Visual Insight (VI), the user does not have the ability choose attribute forms from inside VI. In addition, if the display attribute form is modified in the dataset, this change is not getting updated in existing visualizations within the VI. Please observe the below screenshot (on top). The Supplier attribute has both ID and DESC attribute forms displayed on the grid. Upon saving the dataset and opening a VI with same dataset, the changes in Supplier are not seen.

CAUSE
Currently, attribute forms can only be manipulated at the dataset level. VIs are Dashboards created "on-the-fly" and reflect the current display of the underlying datasets. If the dataset's definion is changed (e.g. a new attribute is added to report), this will be reflected in the VI. However, attribute form modifications are not updated in VIs. This is a limitation and an Enhancement Request has been submitted.
ACTION:
This issue has already been fixed in 10.x. Please upgrade to take advantage of this fix.
WORKAROUND
For the new changes to show, one must create a new visualization within the existing VI, and re-add the same dataset that was modified.
