KB46834: MicroStrategy Health Center Console does not open in a Windows virtual machine in MicroStrategy 9.x

Community Admin

• Strategy

With Windows installed on a virtual machine/parallels desktop, the user is unable to launch the Health Center Console (accessed from Start > All Programs > MicroStrategy Tools). In addition, an error is not encountered by the user.

SYMPTOM:

With Windows installed on a virtual machine/parallels desktop, the user is unable to launch the Health Center Console (accessed from Start > All Programs > Strategy Tools). In addition, an error is not encountered by the user.

Furthermore, the actions suggested in the following Strategy Knowledge Base technical notes do not solve this issue.

  • KB36599 - Strategy Health Center Console will not open when trying to access it from Start menu on a Windows Operating System.
  • KB40982 - Health Center Console cannot be launched in Strategy 9.x
  • KB32620 - In Strategy 9.0.1, users are unable to launch Health Center Console.

CAUSE:

In the Health Center directory, there are 2 ###-GUI folders; where ### is usually the machine name (one for the host machine and the other for the virtual machine). Only the host machine folder has the necessary Health Center files. However, the Health Center Console is reading from the virtual machine folder.

ACTION:

Move/copy the files from the host machine ###-GUI folder to the virtual machine ###-GUI folder.
