KB47014: Mobile documents and dashboards do not create caches on the Intelligence Server when using MicroStrategy Mobile 9.x.

Community Admin

• Strategy

Documents and dashboards executed on a mobile device complete quickly. However, no corresponding caches can be found on the Intelligence Server. No jobs are seen in the job monitor and re-excuting the document or dashboard does not create a new cache on the Intelligence Server in MicroStrategy 9.x.

SYMPTOM:
Documents and dashboards executed on a mobile device complete quickly. However, no corresponding caches can be found on the Intelligence Server. No jobs are seen in the job monitor and re-excuting the document or dashboard does not create a new cache on the Intelligence Server in Strategy 9.x.

CAUSE:
Mobile documents and dashboards are cached on both the Intelligence Server and on the mobile device. When a cache is updated on the Intelligence Server, the corresponding mobile cache is also updated. If the Intelligence Server cache is deleted, mobile executions will run directly against the mobile cache. No jobs appear in the job monitor because the mobile device is not interacting with the Intelligence Server.

ACTION:
To resolve this issue, the mobile cache must be cleared. This forces the document to run against the data warehouse, creating a cache on both the Intelligence Server and the mobile device. Consult the following Strategy Knowledge Base Technical Note for steps to clear caches on the Strategy Mobile application.

KB34633 - How to clear Strategy related cache on iPad when using Strategy Mobile 9.0.2

If the user implements a customized Strategy Mobile application, this functionality may not be available. In this situation, there are two ways to clear a mobile device's cache:

  1. Reboot the mobile device.
  2. Uninstall and re-install the custom Strategy application.
