KB47028: Some of the shortcuts for MicroStrategy tools are not working on a fresh install of MicroStrategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1 in Windows Server 2012.

SYMPTOM:

Some of the shortcuts for Strategy tools are not working on a fresh install of Strategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1 in Windows Server 2012. Specifically, those tools are DB Query Tool, License Manager, Diagnostics Configuration and Service Manager.

When running the shortcuts of License Manager under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Strategy Tools, below error is shown:


The item 'Program' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, 
so this shortcut will no longer work properly.

This issue is happening when the destination folder for Strategy products is under the drive other than C, for instance, E:\Program Files(x86)\MicroStrategy\ and E:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\MicroStrategy\

CAUSE:

This is a known issue in Strategy Analytics Enterprise 9.4.1.

ACTION:

Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on the status of this issue.

WORKAROUND:

Right click the shortcuts>properties. Add double quotes around the path to the executable file in the "Target" field like below:
