KB47143: Changes made to Data Import governing rules within Project Configuration are not retained after save and close in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x.

Stefan Zepeda

Changes made to Data Import governing rules within Project Configuration are not retained after save and close in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x.

SYMPTOM:
Administrators modify the governing settings regarding the Maximum file size and Maximum quota per user for Data Import within the Project Configuration. Upon saving and closing, the user reopens the Project Configuration and notices the value changes were not retained and are instead reset to the value 1.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Developer 9.4.x.
The issue occurs whenever the Strategy Scheduler has been disabled within the Intelligence Server Configuration.  This is disabled by unchecking the option to "Use Strategy Scheduler".  When this is unchecked, the Import Data governing settings will display as 1MB.  The issue is simply a GUI issue as the Data Import governing and Strategy Scheduler are unrelated.  Although the value is displayed incorrectly, the values are accurately updated in the objects definition.

ACTION:
this issue has been addressed in Strategy versions 10.x and later. Please upgrade to 10.x for the fix.
WORKAROUND:
With the issue simply being a GUI issue in regards to displaying the actual values for Data Import, by setting the values and hitting OK, the values are indeed updated even if the GUI does not reflect so.
Alternatively, the user can enable the Strategy Scheduler by navigating into the Strategy Intelligence Server Configuration -> Server Definition -> Advanced and selecting "Use Strategy Scheduler".  Once this is done the correct Data Import governing values are displayed within Project Configuration.
