SYMPTOM:
The Annotation and Share feature is a built-in feature of the 9.4.1 Update 1 Android app. However, it is possible that trying to use that feature will crash the app and a NullPointerException message is shown on the LogCat console as shown below:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Follow these steps to reproduce this issue:
1. Setup the Android project for the mobile app using the steps in any documentation prior to version 9.4.1 Update 1 e.g. https://resource.microstrategy.com/MSDZ/MSDL/940/docs/mergedProjects/mobilesdk/topics/android/andr_Setting_Up_the_Mobile_Project.htm
2. Compile and deploy the app onto an Android emulator or a physical device.
3. Launch the app, notice that the app is launched successfully.
4. Try to use the Annotation and Share feature to see the app crashes and the NullPointerException message is shown on the LogCat console.
CAUSE:
The Android project is missing the Google Play Service library. And starting with version 9.4.1 Update 1, the Strategy Android app will require that library in order to function properly.
ACTION:
Follow the latest documentation to include the Google Play Service library in the Android project. The new documentation can be found at:
