KB47267: When importing a Windows group through User Manager in Developer, nested groups are not shown along with the users in a specific group in MicroStrategy 9.x

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

When importing a Windows group through User Manager in Developer, nested groups are not shown along with the users in a specific group in MicroStrategy 9.x

SYMPTOM:

When using Strategy Developer to import a Windows group through User Manager (right-click over a group/user > Import > Windows Group), nested groups are not shown along with the users in a specific group.

CAUSE:

This is working as designed in Strategy 9.x. The functionality to import nested groups was not added through the User Manager because the functionality is already available through LDAP import. Refer to the "Ability to import nested group membership from the LDAP Server" section in the following Strategy Knowledge Base Technical Note for more information on querying groups hierarchically to resolve the full set of group memberships.

KB30285 - New features for LDAP authentication in the Strategy Intelligence Server 9.0

An enhancement request has been logged to include the functionality to see nested groups under User Manager > Import Windows Group.

ACTION:

Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on the enhancement request.
