KB47419: The setting "Always open in full screen mode" when used in conjunction with Edit Links between two reports is read from the source report and not the target report in MicroStrategy Web.

• Strategy

The setting "Always open in full screen mode" when used in conjunction with Edit Links between two reports is read from the source report and not the target report in MicroStrategy Web 9.3.1 and 9.4.1.

SUMMARY:
This issue has been classified as a defect. The impact is limited to Strategy Web 9.3.1 and 9.4.1, but is only observed if the setting "Always open in full screen mode" is being used.
SYMPTOM:
There is a setting at the report-level for controlling whether the report opens in full screen mode or not. This would be enabled so that end users do not see the toolbar for the report. Users might notice that a report set to open in full screen instead opens in the normal view mode when linked to through Edit Links in Strategy Web 9.3.1 and 9.4.1.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  • Create two reports linked together using Edit Links.
  • Execute the target report and navigate to the "Report Options".
  • Scroll to the bottom of the "General" tab and enable "Always open this report in full screen mode".
  • To confirm the setting is working properly, re-execute the report.

  • Note: The report will open in full screen mode, without the tool bar at the top.
  • Execute the source report, which should have the setting "Always open this report in full screen mode" disabled by default, and click the link to the target report.

  • Note: The report will open in the normal view mode.
  • Reverse the "Always open this report in full screen mode" setting in both the source and target report. Now, the source report should have the setting enabled and the target report should have the setting disabled.
  • Execute the source report and click the link to the target report.
Note: The report will open in full screen mode.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue classified as a defect with Strategy Web 9.3.1 and 9.4.1.

ACTION:
Issue has been addressed in Strategy 9.5.1 and newer versions. Please upgrade to these versions to take advantage of the fix.

The Strategy Internal Reference Number for the issue discussed in this technical note is 874631.
