"Server Definition manipulations error: (Object with ID 'xxx' and type 33 (ServerDef) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted.)" error appears when using a response file in MicroStrategy 9.x and 10.x

SYMPTOM:

In Strategy 9.4.x, when using a response file to create metadata tables and configure the Intelligence Server in the same execution of the Configuration Wizard in command-line mode (the response file has a [Repository] section and a [Server] section) on a DSN that has previously had metadata tables configured and Intelligence Server configured, the following error is encountered:

Server Definition manipulations error:  (Object with ID 'xxx' and type 33 (ServerDef) is not found in metadata.  It may have been deleted.)

CAUSE:

This is a known issue in Strategy 9.4.x.  It occurs only when creating a new server definition with the same name as the previously existing server definition.

ACTION:

Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on this issue.

WORKAROUND:

Split the response file into two files, one for the [Repository] section and one for the [Server] section. In the response file with the [Server] section, rename the server definition. Run each file individually, and the configuration will complete successfully. Afterwards, the [Server] response file may also be run successfully with the original server definition name.
