KB47659: The odbc.ini file is overwritten after performing an upgrade to MicroStrategy 9.4.1 in a UNIX/Linux environment

This article describes a situation in which the odbc.ini file might get overwritten when upgrading to MicroStrategy 9.4.1.

SYMPTOM:
The odbc.ini file is overwritten after performing an upgrade to Strategy 9.4.1 in a UNIX/Linux environment. All previously created DSNs are deleted and are replaced by a blank file as shown below.

CAUSE:
If an error is encountered during the upgrade, the installer will rollback on the upgrade process which will cleanup the odbc.ini file. 
ACTION:
Prior to performing the upgrade, ensure that a backup of the entire installation (in UNIX/Linux) is performed.
