"User 'XXX' does not have enough privileges to use Object Manager."
This error is returned for any project source even if the user object in that project source is licensed to use Object Manager.
In addition to the above error, when checking in License Manager Object Manager doesn't show up as an installed component.
CAUSE:
One possible cause of this issue is there was an earlier version of Strategy and a platform upgrade was made on top of the existing Strategy install, but the upgrade didn't include Object Manager as a component to install. As a result, despite what the splash screen returns when opening Object Manager or what the version information for Object Manager says, it is pointing to the version of the previous install of Strategy on that particular machine.
If this is the cause, it will also make uninstalling Strategy through Add or Remove Programs impossible, as it displays the previous version of Strategy in the list and treats the install as a new install.
ACTION:
In Add or Remove Programs, run through a complete install of Strategy with all missing components (including Object Manager) that are available to be installed.
BEST PRACTICES:
To avoid any install issues entirely such as the one outlined in this technical note, users must uninstal the old version of Strategy before installing the new version on every machine to be upgraded.
WORKAROUND:
If running a new 9.4.1 installation over the existing 9.4.1 installation has failed, contact Strategy Technical Support for further assistance with this issue.
