Using the Web Customization Editor to create a plug-in
Strategy SDK provides a Web Customization Editor that can be used to create a customization plug-in. The following steps show how to create the plug-in and deploy.

  • In Desktop_content.jsp/ascx, update the location of the file that provides content for the View section by making the following code change shown below:

Before customization:

<web:include flush="false" runat="server" path="Desktop_View_Section.ascx" />

After customization:

<web:include flush="false" runat="server" path="/plugins/RearrangingViewSectionDesktopPage/asp/Desktop_View_Section.ascx" />

JSP
Before customization:

<jsp:include flush="false" path="Desktop_View_Section.jsp" />

After customization:

<jsp:include flush="false" path="/plugins/RearrangingViewSectionDesktopPage/jsp/Desktop_View_Section.jsp" />

Note that <web:include> is a custom tag used for including the contents of another ASP .NET file. The path attribute defines the path for the file to be included from the root of the application. If the value of the flush attribute is set to true, then the buffered page output is flushed prior to the inclusion, otherwise the buffer is not flushed. In the code above, the buffered page output is not flushed.

  1. Launch the Web Customization Editor.
  2. Create a new plug-in and give it a meaningful name. For example: RearrangingViewSectionDesktopPage.
  3. Navigate to the asp/jsp folder inside your Strategy Web installation.
  4. Make a copy of Desktop_View_Compact_Section.ascx/jsp and save it in your new customization plugin-folder (plugins/RearrangingViewSectionDesktopPage/asp or plugins/RearrangingViewSectionDesktopPage/jsp) inside the plugins folder of the Strategy Web installation.
    Note: If you are using Desktop_View_Section.ascx, remember to copy the vb code-behind file Desktop_View_Section.ascx.vb to your plug-in folder (plugins/RearrangingViewSectionDesktopPage/asp) as well.
  5. Open this copy of Desktop_View_Compact_Section.ascx/jsp and perform the following changes:
    • Swap the position of the following nodes for all occurrences.  ASP.NET
  6.
    <web:ifFeature runat="server" name="history-list">
