"Countries of the world" Appears as Dropdown Value When Modifying the Shape File for an Image Layout Visualization in MicroStrategy Analytics Desktop 9.4.1.6

When users attempt to modify the Shape File dropdown in Strategy Analytics Desktop (MAD) 9.4.1.6, the Image Map will change, but the Shape File dropdown will remain as "Countries of the world".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  • Launch MAD 9.4.1.6
  • Create a new dashboard using the My Dashboards > Samples > Datasets > Store Details dataset
  • Click the icon for Select a Visualization
  • Choose the Map icon and select the Image Layout option (Note: If this option is not available by default.  To enable this option, follow KB47828: "How to Enable the Image Layout Visualization in MicroStrategy Analytics Desktop 9.4.1.6")

CAUSE
One of the reasons this may occur, is that the Geo Attribute is not defined with an attribute.

ACTION

  1. Go to Show > Edit Visualization to enable the Image Layout editor
  2. Define the Geo Attribute with the desired attribute
  3. Go to Show > Properties
  4. Modify the Shape File dropdown.  Notice the Shape File will change appropriately with user modification.
